Your Dialysis Options

Understanding your options is the first step toward taking control of your care. We offer two primary dialysis modalities β€” both deliverable in the comfort of your own home.

Peritoneal Dialysis

Uses your body's own natural filter

Home Hemodialysis

Uses a machine to filter your blood

Peritoneal Dialysis

Using Your Body's Natural Filter

Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is a procedure that uses the inner lining of your abdomen β€” called the peritoneum β€” as a natural filter to clean your blood.

How It Works

A sterile cleansing fluid called dialysate is introduced into your abdominal cavity through a small catheter. Waste products and extra fluid pass from the blood vessels in the peritoneum into this fluid. After a set dwell time, the fluid is drained and replaced with fresh fluid.

CAPD β€” Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis
Done manually throughout the day. No machine needed.
You perform exchanges yourself, typically 4 times daily.

APD β€” Automated Peritoneal Dialysis
Uses a machine called a cycler, usually overnight
while you sleep. Wake up with your dialysis done.

Key Benefits

βœ“ Done entirely at home
βœ“ No machine for CAPD
βœ“ Flexible schedule
βœ“ Gentle on the body
βœ“ Preserves residual kidney function
βœ“ No needles required

Who Is It Best For?

Patients who want maximum flexibility, those who travel, or those who prefer a needle-free option. Also ideal for patients with good hand dexterity.

Home Hemodialysis

Dialysis On Your Schedule

Home Hemodialysis (HHD) uses a special machine and an artificial kidney called a dialyzer to clean your blood outside your body β€” all from the comfort of your home.

Two Session Types

Daytime HHD
Sessions last 3–4 hours. Done any day of the week
that works for you. Fits around your normal routine.

Nocturnal HHD
Sessions last 6–8 hours overnight while you sleep.
Mimics what a healthy kidney does 24 hours a day.
Best toxin and fluid removal available at home.

Home Hemodialysis

Key Benefits

βœ“ Choose 4–7 days per week
βœ“ Daytime or overnight sessions
βœ“ Mimics natural kidney function
βœ“ Better fluid & toxin removal
βœ“ Done in your own home
βœ“ Flexible around your lifestyle

Who Is It Best For?

Patients who want more frequent, gentler dialysis. Especially beneficial for those who want to maximize clearance and fluid removal while sleeping.
