Your Dialysis Options
Understanding your options is the first step toward taking control of your care. We offer two primary dialysis modalities β both deliverable in the comfort of your own home.
Peritoneal Dialysis
Uses your body's own natural filter
Home Hemodialysis
Uses a machine to filter your blood
Peritoneal Dialysis
Using Your Body's Natural Filter
Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is a procedure that uses the inner lining of your abdomen β called the peritoneum β as a natural filter to clean your blood.
How It Works
A sterile cleansing fluid called dialysate is introduced into your abdominal cavity through a small catheter. Waste products and extra fluid pass from the blood vessels in the peritoneum into this fluid. After a set dwell time, the fluid is drained and replaced with fresh fluid.
